This is a warning: DON'T BE IDIOTS
I made the mistake too many times, and I really wish I paid more attention. Make sure to do your homework; it helps.
AND READ THE ASSIGNMENTS.
If you decide to not do any other work, at the very least, do yourself a favor and read the books. The discussions in class help you give insight to the literature that will help you tremendously on the AP exam.

Yeah, reading the books really does help. Mr. Bruno likes to ask questions about specific scenes that you may not have even realized were important. If you read the assignments, you'll probably have really great discussions, because we've had so many this year. If you keep up with the reading and assignments, it's really not that difficult.
ReplyDeleteOh, and watch out for Mr. Bruno's corny jokes :]
Yeah, make sure you READ THE BOOKS. Class is pretty hard if you don't read what you're supposed to. Trust me, I learned from experience. It's easier to be bored and read the book than be bored and failing the class. And good luck.
ReplyDeleteRead the books, read the books, read the books. Yeah, READ THEM. But another thing to keep in mind: you're probably all out there thinking "Man, high school is a breeze. Most of these teachers aren't that smart, and all I have to do is BS all of my papers." Well watch out, because of all the teachers that say "I'm the one teacher who won't let you get away with BSing your papers," Mr. Bruno is actually that guy. So trust me when I say, "don't bother," or else he'll trick you into doing a research paper on a topic that you have to read a book for called "On Bullshit" by Harry G. Frankfurt.
ReplyDeleteNot that I would know or anything.
I wholeheartedly agree. Being an idiot accomplishes nothing. Reading the assigned books and doing your homework, however, is essential to your survival in Mr. B's class and succesfully passing the AP exam. Although Mr. Bruno has an uncanny ability to grant you a sense of understanding of class assignments in group discussions, regardless of whether you actually did the work, certain vital information can only be attained by doing the assignments.
ReplyDeleteDo the assignments, read the books, and you'll find class discussions not only enjoyable, but quite supplementary to the knowlege you've already accumulated.
