Its only for the better

Last class, Mr. Bruno was telling us how our editing skills were improving from editing each others papers. In class, I didn't see an improvement in myself at all, but once i rewrote my essay I started to catch a lot more of my own mistakes. Even as I am reading Faulkner I am feel as if I sometimes want to revise it. Personally, I think we should do more peer editing. (Hint, hint, Mr. B) Does anyone else feel like even those few days of peer editing helped them?

  1. I think peer editing really helps us. Not only is it an opportunity to improve our paper, but it helps us notice more grammatical mistakes. When the whole class (or at least a few people- which is almost half the class) edits one paper, I see mistakes that I would not have noticed by myself. For example, there may be a mistake on Holly's paper (I only chose her because this was her post) that I did not even notice was incorrect, but someone else pointed it out and made me aware. This way I can keep them in mind so I don't make the same mistake on my paper. I also think it is a great learning experience for writing future essays. It gives us some ideas on how to word sentences, how to create a good transition between ideas, and how to write an introduction or conclusion paragraph.

  2. Peer editing was fun, but it was also eye opening. I could see in everyone else's papers some of the same mistakes and themes in my papers. I felt that I understood more about the prompt, question and book better after I read everyone else's papers. I could tell the different ideas they had, but understand the different ways to precieve the text.

  3. I personally enjoy peer editing. This is because I learn from editing others papers. I have difficulty finding my own mistakes in my papers but as I edit others I notice the mistakes in my own paper. I also enjoy seeing how others approach the same topics and how our writing styles are different. I would enjoy doing more peer editing.

  4. Peer editing helps me, even thought Mr. Bruno has a habit of making fun of us by stating our errors out load for the class to see and using his sarcastic questioning to make us realize our mistakes. Him doing that actually helped me question myself and edit myself a little better, because when I was working on the AP exam, I kept thinking about Mr. B's sarcastic questions while I was writing, and it actually helped me when working through my AP exam. So thanks, Mr. B!
