The short story "The Bear" is just that. How can I possibly expect you all to comprehend such a difficult story? Because I have faith in your abilities as critical readers to get involved in the text and parse it out.
Let's face it, the story isn't that hard until Chapter Four. Obviously our friend Faulkner went somewhere out in nutjob world and decided to return for Chapter Five; however, I am willing to bet that if you think hard enough, you will notice something very familiar at work.
So, here is your task on this posting (especially if this is your story to present):
1. Identify the technique Faulkner is using in Chapter 4 of "The Bear."
2. Explain what Chapter 4 is all about in your own words.
Happy Thinking,
Mr. B
