This blog is and has always been intended to be a discussion board for you all as you progress through the class.
The test is on Wednesday, May 13th. That is not too far away. We are almost at the threshold of the most difficult part of the class. Use your classmates here as you study. Post ideas, concepts you have difficulty with, or just words of encouragement for your fellow APers as this difficult two weeks gets underway. Sure, Prom is this Saturday, but after Prom the real work starts.
Don't get discouraged, talk it out.
Happy Thinking,
Mr. B

Oh my goodness, I can not believe that the AP Test is next wednesday. I feel very over-whelmed, but mostly prepared. I feel ready to knock out those 3 essays, but I'm still a little weary about the multiple choice.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else feeling nervous?
I am definitely feeling the same way Maryssa! My biggest fear is the multiple choice as well. For the essays, the preparation for it in comparison to the multiple choice, is easier. As long as we know how to stylistically approach the essays it shouldn't be too bad. (knock on wood!) The multiple choice is impossible to prepare for though!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are right. I gave you all those notes on MC questions and, frustratingly, that is about all I can give you. There is no warning about what passages might be used or what the passage writers may be looking for for those specific passages. Just remember that you guys have been working passages like these all year, only in bigger format.
ReplyDeleteMr. B
I agree with you guys about the multiple choice. I did the multiple choice part of the practice exam a little while ago, and I didn't do to well. I'm hoping on the actual AP exam the passages are interesting, because that would really help me. I find it hard to pay attention to the passage enough to be able to answer questions when I'm not interested in the topic. I guess I need to work on that, since I definitely will not always be interested in the topics I'm given.
ReplyDeleteOk so it is a little late to be posting on this blog now but I will anyways cause I need the posts.
ReplyDeleteBefore the AP test my biggest fear was the multiple choice portion. Some of the answers could both be the correct answer to a question and I found it difficult to figure out which of the answers it was.
Before the test I wasn't so much worried about the essays. We did enough timed writing in class that I felt comfortable with writing essays under pressure. The main thing I was worried about with the essays was my hand cramping up in the middle.
The multiple choice practice tests that Mr. Bruno gave us scared me because they were hard and challenging, so I think they dumbed down the AP exam for us because it was no where near as bad as those practice exams. The AP Exam was between the difficulty of the practice exams and the SOL. Now, I'm probably thinking it was easy now, but I guess I have to wait and see until the scores come out. It might not have been easy. What does everyone think they got? I think I got a 3 or a 4(hoping for the 4). If I get a 5 I'll die of disbelief!
ReplyDeleteThe only preparation I did for the exam was the multiple choice booklets and timed writings Mr. B gave us. I really wish I took the test more seriously, although the multiple choice wasn't as bad as I anticipated. Looking back on what I wrote on my essays, I feel like an IDIOT. I came up with some stupid ideas for the synthesis and I'm very regretful.
ReplyDeleteTJ, I thought the same thing! After taking that final practice exam that Mr. B gave us, I was scared out my wits! I was feeling pretty confident up until then, and that practice exam took all of my confidence away. I wouldn't say that the real thing was easier, but it seemed to be more reasonable and definitely more doable, thankfully. But again, thank you Mr. Bruno for preparing us. I feel really confident about my score, and I'm really anxious for us to get them back!
ReplyDeleteTJ,
ReplyDeleteWill you die from disbelief...or from "eating your disbelief?"
