Catch stories

I'm not all too sure about what I want to write about but my idea is too center the story around the zoning for public schools.

Anyone else know what they want to write about? Any ideas?

  1. I was thinking of maybe doing something about class sizes, but I'm not really sure where I could go with that.

  2. Both sound like great ideas.

Maryssa...do you know what the gerrymander is? Look it up or ask Mr. Hooten.

Jenna...just ask any core subject teacher about class sizes and you'll get some interesting leads for a story.

  3. Now I'm thinking of doing something about the cell phone rule.

  4. I'm thinking about doing something around the subject of the available classes. Due to the fact that some people are paired up in unfit classes, and that the classes are terribly distorted in the ability levels of the students, I'm thinking about doing something on how we are forced to work with such incapable minds; not so much in AP classes, but in regular classes. They let just about anyone into them to make their school sound more impressive.

  5. That's a good one, TJ.
Hannah Sweeney, Kellie Masters and I have to take Virtual Math Analysis instead of having a regular class. They only offer Math Analysis classes second block which is when we have Chamber Choir (which we definitely were not going to give up for math).
I don't know if that's what you're talking about, but I guess it's an example of class availability.

  6. I'm thinking about doing the change in the grading scale, but I don't know how far that will get me. If it even gets me anywhere..

  7. No I like your idea Holly. I think you can use the grading scale and the Ap classes, and if it will effect it, like how the AP classes are already hard with or without the 10 point scale, and if they add the grading scale should they make the AP classes even harder?

  8. Nice work here guys. Now we are starting to use this as a true interactive discussion arena.

  9. I decided to do my short story on the superficial aspects of school. I find that teenagers, especially girls, are so focused on how they look that they sometimes lose themselves. My story touches on the topics of teenage bulimia/anorexia, combined with drinking and smoking in order to form the "cool" group.

  10. Allison, while doing research for my topic I found some information that relates to yours. Most school shootings are performed because of a teenagers inability to fit in. It is less common for girls to be the ones to bring to school, but from my research it seems that boys seem to have more trouble fitting in than girls.
